Diarrhoea outbreak
A rise in cases of
Diarrhoea is causing concern on Savu,
where last year 30 lives were lost to the
disease. Dr Herman Man reported that
doctors and nurses were busy caring for
the sick. Diarrhoea contributes to
malnutrition which in turn raises
susceptibility to the disease. Children are particularly
vulnerable. In Southeast Asia,
diarrhoea is responsible for as much as
8.5% of all deaths.
